Law Society of South Africa

Law Society of South Africa brings together its six constituent members (the Cape Law Society, the KwaZulu-Natal Law Society, the Law Society of the Free State, the Law Society of the Northern Provinces, the Black Lawyers Association and the national Association of Democratic Lawyers) to represent 18 800 attorneys. This includes attorneys in private practice, attorneys employed at the Legal Aid Board’s Justice Centers, attorneys at university law clinics and State attorneys. (www.lssa.org.za)

SADCLA

The SADC Lawyers Association, based in Gaborone, Botswana, brings together law societies and bar associations of the SADC (Southern African Development Community) countries to promote the interests of the profession and the society at large. It also has individual membership.

CLASA  

The Corporate Lawyers Association of South Africa represents corporate lawyers (in-house counsel or legal advisers). These lawyers are not members of law societies or bar councils in South Africa. (www.clasa.co.za).
